The Lead Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of the pharmacy manager, performs various technical duties related to preparing and dispensing drugs according to standard procedures. This role also involves partnering with the pharmacy manager to lead and train other pharmacy technicians.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Ohio Board of Pharmacy Technician License
  • Immunization Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • 3 years of practice as a nationally certified pharmacy technician

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties of data entry, counting medication, and selling prescriptions to patients under the supervision of the pharmacist on duty.
  • Provide excellent customer service on the phone and at the counter, and assist the pharmacy manager in handling customer complaints.
  • Serve as an example of excellent performance in attendance, dress code, customer service, work ethic, work relationships, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the pharmacy manager to train new pharmacy technicians and retrain current technicians.
  • Administer immunizations under the supervision of the pharmacist on duty.
  • Perform administrative tasks under the direction and supervision of the pharmacy manager, within the scope of applicable rules and laws.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
