About The Position

Leads the daily operations of the Pharmacy to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. This role involves determining, coordinating, and supervising daily staffing assignments, maintaining workflows, and addressing staff performance in real-time. The Lead Pharmacist is also responsible for managing purchasing and inventory, providing leadership, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. They assist with performance evaluations and corrective actions, assess the quality of services delivered, and facilitate staff development programs. Ensuring staff compliance with policies, procedures, and protocols, and performing staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels are key aspects of this position. Additionally, the Lead Pharmacist leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints, identifies and solves problems in coordination with department leadership, and effectively delegates tasks and responsibilities. They also lead and adapt to departmental changes, communicating during transitions affecting their area and encouraging team members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience as determined by the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Pharmacy required upon hire
  • R.Ph. - Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Kentucky required upon hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Determine, coordinate, and supervise daily staffing assignments.
  • Maintain workflows for assigned area throughout the shift ensuring all assigned work is completed and/or transitioned appropriately to the next shift.
  • Address staff performance in real time where necessary.
  • Manage purchasing and inventory.
  • Provide leadership, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Assist with performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Assess quality of services delivered and facilitate staff development programs.
  • Ensure staff compliance with department and organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Perform staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
