About The Position

The Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) is seeking a knowledgeable, organized, and motivated Lead Pest Control Technician to join their team. This leadership role involves guiding and supporting a team of technicians while advancing the mission of providing safe, sanitary, and affordable housing. The Lead Pest Control Technician is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing pest control operations across OHA properties, including towers, scattered sites, and administrative locations. This position provides operational leadership, staff supervision, and technical expertise to ensure pest control services are performed effectively, safely, and in compliance with OHA policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The role includes direct service delivery, quality control oversight, staff training, inventory management, and ensuring consistent and timely pest mitigation services for residents and facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • State certification as a commercial pesticide applicator required: Nebraska Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator Commercial License
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pest control experience required
  • Understanding of EPA, OSHA, and state pesticide regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of pest control methods, chemical usage, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in work order systems and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the OHA Auto Insurance Policy.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and supervision to pest control staff to ensure high-quality performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish work priorities, assign duties, and manage staff schedules, including development of monthly service schedules.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and individual supervisory sessions; provide coaching, evaluate performance, and disciplinary actions in accordance with OHA policies.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and accountable work environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform pest control services at OHA developments, including inspection, treatment, re-inspection, and prevention of infestations.
  • Identify infestation sources and determine appropriate treatment methods using chemical and mechanical means.
  • Apply pesticides safely through spraying, dusting, baiting, or trapping methods; ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform scheduled and on-demand service calls, including semi-annual services at scattered site locations.
  • Prepare required resident notices and distribute them within required timelines.
  • Ensure work orders are properly generated, assigned, completed, documented, and closed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and follow up to verify effectiveness of pest treatments.
  • Implement pest control procedures and recommend improvements based on changing conditions, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and application of chemicals according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain inventory of chemicals, tools, and equipment; ensure proper storage and safe use.
  • Create and approve purchase orders; verify receipt of goods and ensure proper documentation of invoices and receipts.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, including spray logs, service requests, and work order documentation.
  • Prepare and complete the monthly board report, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication of pest control activities, trends, and outcomes.
  • Maintain vehicle usage logs and oversee maintenance of assigned vehicles.
  • Communicate regularly with residents, property management, and other departments regarding pest control activities.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Work evenings, weekends, or adjusted schedules as required by operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
