About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. This role will lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. The Lead Person will perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of plant equipment, including conveyors, crushers, screening systems, and rotating equipment. They will plan, prioritize, and assign maintenance work while providing technical guidance and support to maintenance team members. Additionally, they will conduct inspections, analyze equipment performance, and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and equipment life. The role also involves overseeing equipment installations, alignments, and major repair projects, ensuring work is completed safely and to quality standards. Collaboration with operations, contractors, and maintenance personnel is key for coordinating planned outages and resolving unplanned equipment issues. The Lead Person will also train and mentor maintenance employees on best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work procedures, while promoting and enforcing company safety policies and fostering a strong safety-first culture.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coordinate work, provide direction, and mentor team members.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyors, crushers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other heavy industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively lead maintenance activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
