About The Position

The Lead Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and leading the payroll function to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation across multiple airport locations. The position manages payroll operations, ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, collaborates with HR and Finance, and supports reporting, audits, and system improvements while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll.
  • Manage and review payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and overtime calculations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Process payroll for multiple airport locations, handling various pay schedules and complexities.
  • Verify and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports to relevant authorities.
  • Address employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and tax withholding.
  • Work with Finance to ensure proper accounting and reporting of payroll expenses.
  • Assist in the implementation and testing of payroll software updates and enhancements.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management, including cost analysis and budget forecasting.
  • Administer and maintain employee benefits, including retirement plans and health insurance.
  • Collaborate with IT to streamline and improve payroll systems and processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to payroll team members on payroll procedures and compliance.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports related to payroll expenses.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reporting.
  • Participate in internal and external payroll audits and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Uphold a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive payroll data.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, customer service, interpersonal, and oral communication competencies.
  • Ability to apply logic and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
