About The Position

The Lead Patient Care Technician provides high-quality patient care, performs delegated clinical tasks, supports daily living activities, and documents and reports patient information to licensed staff. This position is full time, working the day/evening/night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays. The Lead Patient Care Technician Provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated nursing tasks and assisting with activities of daily living. Performs basic and advanced technical skills appropriate to competency and patient population. Documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff in a timely manner. Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens throughout the facility. Supports performance improvement initiatives and contributes to departmental outcomes. Maintains proficiency in electronic medical record systems and supports chart audits. Participates in unit quality monitoring, shared governance, and interdisciplinary rounds. Leads unit huddles and supports team communication and coordination. Assists with staff scheduling and daily workflow coordination. Manages unit supplies and equipment, including ordering, stocking, and organization. Supports patient flow through admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Provides excellent customer service, serving as a primary point of contact for patients and visitors. Answers phones, routes calls, and communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff. Maintains a clean, safe environment and participates in safety and regulatory compliance activities. Assists with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repair coordination. Performs additional clinical tasks as appropriate to competency, including phlebotomy, wound care, and other procedures. Supports onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff. Promotes patient safety and enhances the patient experience through rounding and communication practices. Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to service excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant required for employees working in critical access facilities.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of life span growth and development.
  • Follows established policies and procedures in daily tasks.
