About The Position

True Vine Church Community (TVCC) is seeking a lead pastor to continue leading the congregation in sustaining revival. We are prayerfully seeking a lead pastor who loves people, builds genuine relationships, and can connect meaningfully with our urban, multiethnic, and multigenerational community. We desire a leader who embraces diversity, understands the unique opportunities and challenges of urban ministry, and has a heart for reaching our community with the Gospel. The pastor should be committed to developing and empowering leaders, investing in the next generation, building unity across cultures and generations, and leading with humility, integrity, wisdom, and emotional health. Above all, we are looking for someone who loves Jesus deeply, faithfully teaches God's Word, and can lead our church into its next season while honoring and building upon what God is already doing among us. TVCC is located in the Wissinoming neighborhood of Philadelphia. TVCC has both an English and Spanish congregation (Vid Verdadera). Over a dozen birth nations are represented among the members of the church. TVCC is 1% Arab, 15% Asian, 16% Black, 15% Hispanic, 45% White, and 11% multi/bi-racial. The Average Sunday morning attendance is 130-140 combined, with the 10 AM service in English and the 1 PM service in Spanish. TVCC currently employs an Assoc. Pastor for Spanish-speaking Ministries. TVCC's vision is to Make Disciples that Sustain Revival. Jesus commands His church to make disciples. To effectively do what Jesus did, His disciples must learn to think as He thought and feel as He felt. TVCC defines revival as: Spiritual renewal that leads to social change. Responsibilities

  • Teach & Preach: Lead the church in biblical preaching and teaching, primarily through Sunday sermons, while identifying, developing, and overseeing a team of gifted teachers and preachers. Ensure, with the Elders, that all teaching across the church is biblically sound and aligned with the church’s mission.
  • Pray & Cultivate Prayer: Prioritize prayer for the congregation and Philadelphia, ensure members are regularly prayed for, and develop and lead a prayer ministry that cultivates a strong culture of prayer throughout the church.
  • Develop & Equip Leaders: Identify, mentor, appoint, and empower leaders across the church, including Elders, staff, ministry leaders, and discipleship group leaders. Build healthy ministry teams and lead the church’s efforts to equip, send, and care for missionaries and church planters.
  • Build & Provide Vision: Partner with the Elders to sustain doctrinal foundations, articulate vision and values, develop ministry strategies, and guide the church’s growth and new initiatives.
  • Shepherd & Care for the Church: Ensure members are well cared for through pastoral ministry, counseling, visitation, hospitality, baptism, weddings, funerals, and crisis care, either personally or through equipped leaders.
  • Community Engagement and Evangelism: Support and encourage evangelistic initiatives.
  • Oversee Church Operations: Provide overall leadership and oversight of church ministries, gatherings, membership, administration, and organizational functions, with an emphasis on delegation and empowering qualified leaders.
  • Represent & Connect: Serve as the primary representative of the church to other congregations, Christian organizations, the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and civic authorities, fostering relationships and opportunities for collaboration.
