About The Position

This role is for a Lead Paraprofessional within the Kelly program, specifically for the SY26-27 school year. The position is internal and reports to the Building Principal or their Designee. The ideal candidate is an experienced paraprofessional within the CPS district with over 5 years of service and a proven track record of training new paraprofessionals. This role requires demonstrated expertise and a passion for guiding others to success in the paraprofessional role.

Requirements

Paraprofessional in CPS
5+ years of experience in the district
Experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district
Demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional
Excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role
Ability to keep a log of consultations and track hours on time sheets
Ability to attend district-wide meetings

Responsibilities

Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position.
Introduce new paraprofessionals to staff members and help them navigate who to go to for various tasks.
Provide information on important dates/deadlines and guidance on other topics related to the role.
Support with navigating technical issues.
Provide support for new paraprofessionals (in their first 2 years of employment) during the school day (2 half-hour sessions per month) and up to 2 hours per month after the regular workday, as designated by the Principal.
Keep a log of the number of paraprofessionals who consulted with the Lead para and the nature of the topics raised.
Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk.
Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year.
