About The Position

Pregis is seeking a Lead Packer to oversee Packers and ensure the quality and production deliverables of mailers across multiple production lines. This role ensures that products meet customer specifications, delivery requirements, and company standards for quality and operation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Lead Packer is responsible for maintaining continuous product quality, guiding workflow, monitoring inspections and packaging processes, and performing quality checks. This position also involves training and supporting team members, collaborating with other departments, and ensuring smooth shift transitions.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent technical school preferred
3 to 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred.
Lead or Supervisory experience preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (Spanish bilingual a plus)
Ability to direct a team of employees and facilitate compliance with workplace policies, procedures and rules.
Elevates problems or employee concerns to Supervisor or Human Resources as needed.
Promote a positive teamwork culture and champion company core values.
Ability to take coaching well and interact respectfully with others.
Strong organizational skills: ability to delegate, plan, and schedule accordingly.
Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime availability

Ability to work Overtime as needed daily, or weekends based upon business needs.
Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 45 pounds and endure moderately controlled temperature levels

Responsibilities

Lead team of Packers for multiple production lines by monitoring performance and providing direction.
Ensure SOPs are followed during the production process.
Ensure correct packaging components are in place for each varying job order.
Maintain integrity of SAP inventory management system and ensure finished good load flags are placed correctly.
Monitor jobs, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per TMS quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed.
Collaborate with assigned QA Inspector throughout the shift as needed.
Ensure Packer rotations and breaks occur per company policies.
Work with Production Supervisor to determine manning schedules and overtime allocations.
Accurately update the upcoming shift to ensure a smooth shift handoff; communicate regularly with staff to minimize delays.
Monitor mailer production, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed.
Train Packers on Quality Assurance (QA) SOP; regularly conduct audits to ensure quality inspections are being performed.
Work with Quality Manager and Inspectors and Operations to resolve issues per QA SOPs.
Perform 6S and SOP audits regularly as required.
Help to identify raw material defects, captures relevant information (lot codes, samples, etc.) and forward to Quality Manager.
