Starts-up, operates and controls all services required by production and supplies through the waste waters transferred to PRASA and the waste treatment plant. Makes analytical and necessary decisions pertaining to the proper operations of equipment according to present standards and/or operating conditions. Carries out related duties such as taking samples, conducting tests and completing required paperwork. Takes reading from domestic water transferred to PRASA and make corrections on those parameters deviating from set points. Reports deviations to his/her supervisor and Lead Operators/Lead Technicians. Clean units and reports changes on water characteristics for proper corrections. Add chemicals as required. Operates steam strippers and make changes according to lab results and operations needs. Clean filter presses, checks for damaged filter bags and, unload salts into drums and dumpster as required. Identify drums and place them in assigned area. If required, calculate for flocculent addition and note all tank transfers in log sheets including water to PRASA. Maintains working areas in a clean and orderly manner. Generates work orders to correct unsafe situations, defective equipment and leaking utilities service lines. Does his/her work under a minimum of supervision. Spend all his/her time in working areas. Assist in the preparation of waste shipments. Have control over the operation of the Environmental area for functional qualifications. Coordinate with shift mechanics the preparation and follow up of work orders. Inform supervisor of recurring problems. Responsible for all shift activities, coordinate with operations supervisor and with the incoming shift group leader for accurate transfer of information. Coordinate and follow up on special tests. Work must be done to keep all parameters as consistent as possible. Adherence to plant Safety, Environmental, and GMP regulations. Must be able to work without supervision and in rotating shits. Responsible for making decisions within the job. If a major decision is needed affecting the process, the Environmental Operations Manager will be contacted. Reports spills or abnormal situations in the facility pertaining to environmental regulations. Must be organized and take notes of all work performed for record. Must handle spills, leaks, and unpredictable situations, as failures of equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have mathematical knowledge to perform calculations involving ratios, multiplications and divisions.
  • Must have some mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to work on rotating shifts.
  • Read Piping and Instrument Diagram (P & ID) and understand process flow diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of EPA, EQB, and OSHA regulations
  • Must be able to work without supervision and in rotating shits.
  • Must be organized and take notes of all work performed for record.
