Lead Operator Sterilizer
About The Position
Sensient Technologies is seeking a skilled Steam Sterilizer Lead to join their team. This role is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the Chili Sterilizer and Mill equipment within the Chili department. The Lead ensures the line meets production throughput, product quality, and safety standards. Experience as a maintenance mechanic/electrician in food manufacturing is highly preferred, and experience with packaging equipment/robotics is a plus. A strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food safety, HACCP, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), LOTO, and safe work practices is essential.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of previous Operator experience with leadership responsibilities in a food manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of PLC and panel view operations, limit switches, relays, proximity sensors, photo sensing devices, electronic device calibrations, voltage meters, and preventative maintenance work.
- Knowledge of Industrial Safety and Hygiene guidelines.
- Previous experience in plant production sites.
- Ability to read and write.
- Interest in being a part of an effective and productive manufacturing process.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- Maintenance mechanic/electrician experience in food manufacturing.

Responsibilities
- Sets up equipment parameters based on packaging formulas to meet customer order requirements.
- Utilizes PLCs and panel views for equipment setup and configuration.
- Troubleshoots, performs basic maintenance, and repairs Steam Sterilizer and Mill equipment to maximize productivity.
- Ensures quick and efficient startup of Steam Sterilizer and Mill to minimize downtime.
- Oversees production line continuity between shift changes and ensures proper handover to the incoming Lead.
- Performs inspections of packaging components to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Ensures all milled batches are stored in the correct location as designated by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Scans all batches into the inventory system.
- Follows the production schedule according to sequence or priority set by the Production Scheduler, only deviating with Shift Supervisor approval.
