Lead Operator Kaizen Technician

About The Position

This role involves fabricating and assembling structural products such as racks for manufacturing parts according to job orders or verbal instructions. The technician will also assist with kaizen activities, which include gathering and interpreting data to improve processes.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High safety awareness.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools.
  • High creativity.
  • Basic knowledge of computer and Excel functions.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business journals or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as conversions, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Stand, walk, sit and talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate items of need on the production floor using a variety of tools, including a chop saw and other power tools.
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using a square, ruler, and measuring tape.
  • Analyze data and observe plant activities to identify problem issues.
  • Read and understand work instructions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in math and reading skills.
  • Understand plant metrics and objectives.
  • Possess a basic understanding of production and material delivery processes.
  • Utilize or learn to utilize tools such as Time Studies, Yamazumi Charts, and 5 Why Analysis to pinpoint problems.
  • Work effectively with Department Leadership to understand desired improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively between the production floor and related departments.
