About The Position

The Lead Operations Engineer supports SpaceX’s business operations team by providing company-level support for the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department’s systems and tools. The role leads operations engineers who support systems and resources used by the EHS team and organization. It also develops and improves EHS dashboards, tools, applications, and visualization platforms; analyzes EHS data; and coordinates with teams across SpaceX sites and software partners.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
At least 5 years of experience in data analytics, EHS project management, and/or EHS coordination.
Willingness to travel regularly to U.S. SpaceX sites.
Ability to work extended hours and weekends for incidents, audits, and system cutovers.
Ability to walk through manufacturing and industrial areas while using required controls.
Ability to obtain and maintain any required site or government access.
Must meet applicable U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement dashboards and tools for the Environmental Health and Safety department.
Analyze environmental monitoring, incident report, and safety performance data to identify data visualization opportunities.
Collaborate with teams across all sites to solicit feedback on developed systems.
Provide training sessions and educational materials on proper use of safety applications and visualization platforms.
Work with application software teams and/or contractors to improve applications and manage software development projects through completion.
Produce specific metric reports upon request.
Identify operational challenges, lead problem formulation, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Communicate with different organizational levels, from participating in layout reviews with engineers to presenting to leadership.
Lead operations engineers who run the systems, set their priorities, and review their work.
Staff the team with the hiring manager, including requisitions, interviews, and leveling for operations engineers.
Clear blockers and ensure team redundancy to provide consistent department and organization support.
Manage projects and relationships with software team partners.
