About The Position

This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities within the EEG Lab. The Lead Neuro Tech will serve as a clinical and technical expert, overseeing training and educational development for all EEG Lab staff. Key duties include performing EEG procedures, managing lab logs, developing competencies and quality assurance tools, participating in safety initiatives, assisting with operational activities like procurement and accreditation, and demonstrating proficiency with EEG equipment and software. The position also requires managing staff and patient schedules, coordinating clinical components of various requests, and providing educational feedback on EEG studies. Leadership responsibilities include providing performance feedback to management, resolving clinical pre-testing requirements, establishing performance improvement initiatives, managing safety events, and conducting staff check-ins.

Requirements

Associate degree preferred
5 to 7 years of clinical EEG experience is preferred
Registered EEG Technologist
Certified by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists as well as complying with all certification requirements
Certification Examination in Long Term Monitoring certificate (CLTM) or Certification Examination in Long Term Monitoring certificate within 3 years of employment in role
Maintain Current CPR or BLS Healthcare certification
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to functional unit(s) supported to include Hospital and EEG lab
Knowledge of amicable inter-relationships between functional areas

Responsibilities

Prepares and performs EEG procedures according to EEG Lab guidelines
Serves as a clinical/technical resource of expertise for the EEG Lab
Responsible for oversight of logs for the EEG Lab
Responsible for training and educational oversight of all EEG Lab staff
Develops competencies, validations, and quality assurance tools to measure staff effectiveness and quality in collaboration with the Medical Director and management
Acts as a Safety “Coach” representing the EEG Lab and attends Employee Safety Committee Meetings
Performs clinical investigations and safety/environmental rounds, reporting results to the QI department
Assists management with operational activities such as operational analytics and supplies and equipment procurement as needed
Coordinates accreditation/reaccreditation efforts in collaboration with management and medical director
Demonstrates proficiency with computers and Windows-based software programs, as well as troubleshooting skills of all EEG equipment
Reviews clinical orders and collaborates with the medical director and other clinicians to ensure the appropriate clinical exam is performed
Assists the manager to create the staffing grid and ongoing adjustments
Manages staff and patient schedules to ensure appropriate staff ratios and needs, including maintaining continuous monitoring on LTMS/EMUS and OR case weekend coverage
Assists with coordinating clinical components of outpatient, urgent, or inpatient requests
Oversees staff training, including development and implementation of orientation, in-services, and educational offerings for all Neurodiagnostic technologists I, II, III & IV
Maintains ongoing Clipping and Pruning
Reviews and evaluates EEG studies to provide direct educational feedback to staff
Provides on-call coverage rotation
Performs other duties as assigned
Provides clinical performance feedback, including observational reviews to the Department Manager for use in annual reviews
Coordinates and resolves clinical pre-testing related requirements
Assists to adjust patient schedule/load as required
Establishes clinical performance improvement initiatives and metrics
Manages safety events for the Neurodiagnostic as required
Represents management in Safety Huddles
Performs staff check-ins to ensure educational/operational needs are met
