About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center, an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility, as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices. This role coordinates the delivery of healthcare to assist in diagnosis and treatment. It directs human and physical resources to achieve an established standard of care in radiologic sciences. The Lead MRI Technologist exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. They assure appropriate patient care management and adjust daily operations to meet the needs of a changing working environment. By performing all tasks in an efficient, responsible, and caring manner, the employee will be dedicated to meeting the needs of customers and staff. In doing so, they will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care with respect to the special needs of each patient age group serviced as well as those persons with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Current NYS license as a registered radiologic technologist.
  • Three-five (3-5) years supervisory experience required.
  • BLS required.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Demonstrates a knowledge base and experience to successfully function within the position.
  • Must have 5+ years current MRI experience and MRI certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises technical services of an assigned area for maintenance of prescribed standards.
  • Ensures technical adequacy of studies by evaluating accuracy of images and demonstrating proper operation of equipment.
  • Recommends activities of assigned subordinates.
  • Coordinates activities of assigned subordinates within the modality with other departmental activities and services of the hospital.
  • Recommends promotion, discipline, and other administrative action.
  • Reports problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, procedures, transfers and recommends action in all personnel matters for those personnel assigned them.
  • Is responsible for all safety regulations in assigned areas of supervision.
  • Interprets departmental and hospital rules and regulations where applicable to those personnel assigned them.
  • Participates in the formal teaching programs and in service education classes as required.
  • Is responsible for the procurement, storage and routing of supplies and for room preparation.
  • May recommend at times the procurement and necessity for maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs duties of subordinate personnel in response to workload demands.
  • Operates equipment and performs procedures as outlined in the Technologist job description.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field in order to enhance expertise by reading appropriate journals, books and other literature and attending inservices and the like.
  • Communicates openly and frequently with employees at all levels to insure that they understand the vision and objective of the hospital and of the department as well as their personal role in the organization.

Benefits

  • The salary range for the role is $102,864.72 - $115,645.98 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
