About The Position

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking to bring on a Full-Time MRI Technologist to join our growing team. The MRI Technologist will operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of Washington State approved Certified MRI Technologist program
  • Current registration with the WA State Department of Health as a Radiology Technologist
  • Current BLS
  • Knowledge of MRI equipment operation, imaging protocols, safety standards (including MRI safety zones and screening), and quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology as it relates to diagnostic imaging.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and radiology/imaging software (e.g., PACS).
  • Understanding of basic ICD-10 and CPT coding related to imaging services (as applicable to role responsibilities).
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage patient workflow efficiently.
  • Excellent patient care and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with providers, radiologists, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to ensure patient safety and maintain strict adherence to MRI safety protocols and infection control standards.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and patient volumes while maintaining a professional and positive approach.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to operate imaging systems and standard office software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an MRI Technologist
  • Previous orthopedic, outpatient, or clinical imaging experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI studies that meet or exceed standards established by providers and interpreting radiologists.
  • Prepares MRI room and equipment for procedures, including coil selection and placement, room setup, and stocking necessary supplies.
  • Safely assists patients on and off the MRI table and positions patients to ensure accurate imaging while maintaining comfort.
  • Handles and positions MRI coils and related equipment appropriately for each exam.
  • Adheres to all MRI safety guidelines and ensures patient and staff compliance with safety protocols.
  • Screens, interviews, and assesses patients prior to MRI examinations.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses questions to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and ensures completeness of studies.
  • Performs parenteral procedures as applicable, including IV starts, contrast administration, and removal in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, providers, and team members to support efficient workflow and high-quality care.
  • Reports equipment issues, safety concerns, or workflow problems to appropriate leadership.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
