Lead Mobile Nurse, Mobile Medical Unit

Medical Teams International•Hermiston, OR

About The Position

The Lead Mobile Nurse contributes to Medical Teams International’s mission by delivering compassionate, high-quality nursing care through its Rural Access Mobile Health Program (RAMP). Serving rural and frontier communities across Eastern Oregon, the role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership for a mobile care team. The Lead Mobile Nurse coordinates clinic operations, provides day-to-day clinical oversight, supports quality and regulatory compliance, mentors team members, and serves as the primary clinical decision-maker during mobile clinic operations in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and program leadership. The position provides preventive and public health nursing services, including health assessments, chronic disease screenings, point-of-care testing, pediatric and adult immunizations, evidence-based health education, vaccine counseling, and care coordination. It uses clinical judgment to determine appropriate follow-up, referrals, and connections to community resources. The role also supports vaccine safety and cold-chain practices, accurate documentation and reporting, and equitable access to preventive health services while fostering trusted community relationships. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, hourly, grant-funded position initially offered for a fixed term of two years. Continued employment beyond the initial term depends on funding availability. The position requires frequent regional travel, occasional overnight stays, and a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings and weekends. It is designated safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. The role may also support emergency and disaster response deployments, including work in dynamic or austere settings.
