About The Position

Cimarron is seeking a Lead Mission Systems Engineer to join an exciting program located in Seal Beach, CA; with options to work from El Segundo, CA, Aurora, CO or Herndon, VA to support development of new first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities.
  • Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.
  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or comparable software language.
  • 7 or more years of systems engineering experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a technical leadership position (Engineering Lead, IPT, Technical Project Manager, etc).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency developing control algorithms, models, and simulations.
  • Proficiency in space environments, mission design, or astrodynamics.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
  • Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned system.

Responsibilities

  • Support technology integration for and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.
  • Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership.
  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere.
  • Develop physics-based mission simulations to inform system trade studies and verify system performance.
  • Develop mission flight plans/concepts exploring new and novel astrodynamics approaches.
  • Develop and maintain operational mission planning tools.
