About The Position

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is an innovative behavioral health hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services. The facility provides specialized mental health services and substance use treatment for teens, adults, and older adults. The Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) works collaboratively with various leadership roles to manage the milieu of a specific assigned unit, ensuring a safe, efficient, and cohesive environment that supports organizational policies and procedures. This role provides direct support and education to nursing staff, MHTs, Therapists, and other disciplines. The Lead MHT supervises MHTs under the direction of the Milieu Manager and CNO, assists with program development, performance improvement activities, and program component evaluation. As part of the leadership team, the Lead MHT coaches staff on patient safety and milieu standards of care, serves as a mentor to new unlicensed assistive personnel, and functions as a staffed MHT within the adolescent unit.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• 2+ years experience in a psychiatric facility required
• Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance or ability to obtain

• 1+ years of leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage the milieu of the specific assigned unit to provide a safe, efficient, and cohesive milieu that supports the policies and procedures of the organization.
• Provide direct support/education to the scheduled Nursing staff, MHTs, Therapists and any other disciplines as warranted.
• Supervise the MHTs under the direction of the Milieu Manager and CNO.
• Assist with program development, implementation of performance improvement activities, and evaluation of program components.
• Assist in coaching staff members including PSOs and MHTs in patient safety practices and adherence to milieu standards of care.
• Serve as a mentor with new or inexperienced unlicensed assistive personnel members.
• Serve in their role as a staffed MHT within the adolescent unit.
