Lead Medical Technologist (ASCP/AMT) – Full Time, Day Shift. If you’re an experienced laboratory professional ready to step into a leadership role, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center invites you to join our team. As a Lead Medical Technologist, you’ll coordinate and supervise the daily operations of your assigned laboratory section or shift—ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while supporting a culture of excellence. In this leadership‑focused role, you’ll guide staff, maintain quality standards, and help integrate your section into the broader mission of St. Mary’s. St. Mary’s is a 229‑bed acute care hospital with more than 125 skilled physicians across specialties including Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, Women’s Imaging, Rehabilitation, and more. As a Lead Medical Technologist, you’ll ensure the smooth, accurate, and compliant operation of your assigned laboratory section or shift. You’ll support staff, maintain quality systems, and collaborate with leadership to uphold high standards of patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related science
  • Minimum 3–5 years clinical laboratory experience required; 5–8 years preferred
  • Current MT, MLT, or MLS certification (or eligibility) from an authorized accrediting agency
  • Must meet CLIA ’88 personnel requirements
  • Strong mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the undergraduate or graduate level

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and supervising lab operations including scheduling, training, and workflow management
  • Maintaining policies and procedures in alignment with hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards
  • Monitoring quality control programs daily to identify outliers, shifts, and trends
  • Ensuring accurate and timely test results using properly functioning test systems
  • Reviewing staff work within 24 hours to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Selecting and implementing testing methodologies authorized by the Laboratory Medical Director
  • Supporting cost‑effective operations through budgeting awareness and resource management
  • Promoting Service Excellence and modeling professional standards for all customer groups
