Lead Medical Lab Scientist - Days
About The Position
Under the direction of laboratory management, the Lead Medical Lab Scientist leads all aspects of operations in an assigned section, team, or department. This includes preparing and maintaining records, reports, policies, and procedures; analyzing testing methodologies; coordinating employee training and staffing; providing technical oversight; and ensuring compliance. The role collaborates with team members to coordinate tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements with management. It assists with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control and assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area. The position also performs laboratory tests and procedures that help physicians diagnose, monitor, treat, and prevent disease.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of hospital experience.
- Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, in accordance with qualifications under Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations; certification is required upon hire.
- AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life or biological science such as biology, biochemistry, or microbiology.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience.
