Lead Medical Lab Scientist - Days
About The Position
Under the direction of laboratory management, the Lead Medical Lab Scientist leads operations in an assigned laboratory section, team, or department. The role includes maintaining records, reports, policies, and procedures; reviewing testing methodologies; coordinating employee training and staffing; providing technical oversight; and ensuring compliance. The position collaborates with team members and management to coordinate tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements. It also assists with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control and assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area. The role performs laboratory tests and procedures to help physicians diagnose, monitor, treat, and prevent disease.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of hospital experience.
- Upon hire, certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, in accordance with qualifications under Georgia Department of Community Health Healthcare Facility Clinical Laboratory regulations.
- AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life or biological science such as biology, biochemistry, or microbiology.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience.
