Lead Medical Lab Scientist
About The Position
Under the direction of laboratory management, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of operation in an assigned section/team/department. This includes the preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies, and procedures. The Lead Medical Lab Scientist will also be involved in the analysis of testing methodologies, employee training and staffing, technical oversight, and ensuring compliance. They will work collaboratively with team members to coordinate tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements with management. Additionally, this role will assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area. The Lead Medical Lab Scientist will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to aid physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating, and preventing disease.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- 3 years of hospital experience Required
- Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required
- AAB provisional certification not accepted
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred
- Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred
