About The Position

Use comprehensive knowledge to accurately perform and evaluate highly complex laboratory testing in an efficient manner. Provide technical support and work direction to staff in the assigned department. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment and teamwork, and provide excellent customer service. Support continuous quality improvement of laboratory services and provide feedback to staff on performance.

This is a second-shift Core Lab position, with hours of either 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Requirements

• At least four years of progressive, successful experience in clinical laboratory medicine in the assigned discipline.
• High school education or equivalent.
• A bachelor's degree in a scientific field, an equivalent combination of education and experience (one year of education equals one year of experience), or completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory science.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility.
• Medical laboratory scientist certification by ASCP (MLS), AMT, or equivalent within 12 months of eligibility or graduation. Accepted equivalents are specified in the posting, including MT (ASCP), qualifying CLS (NCA) certification obtained before 2004, certain technologist qualifications under 42 CFR 493.1491, and MLS(ASCPi) with ASCPi approval.
• For individuals certified beginning January 1, 2004, maintenance of certification through the ASCP Board of Certification Certification Maintenance Program.

• Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or another laboratory-related science.
