About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Lead Medical Assistant (MA) to oversee clinical operations in a fast-paced pain management practice. This role combines hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring efficient workflow, excellent patient experience, and strong support for our providers. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both people and processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in pain management, orthopedics, or a specialty practice
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) required
  • Strong knowledge of EMR systems and clinical workflows
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pain management procedures (e.g., injections, nerve blocks)
  • Familiarity with insurance authorizations and specialty referrals
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Medical Assistants and clinical staff in daily operations
  • Coordinate provider schedules, room assignments, and patient flow
  • Train, mentor, and onboard new clinical staff
  • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, OSHA/HIPAA compliance, and best practices
  • Act as a liaison between providers, front office staff, and management
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and pain management treatments
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sterilization and stocking
  • Administer injections and medications as permitted by scope of practice
  • Provide patient education and follow-up instructions
  • Oversee EMR documentation accuracy and workflow efficiency
  • Manage clinical supply inventory and ordering
  • Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and coordination of care
  • Monitor daily schedules to minimize wait times and maximize productivity
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits
