About The Position

The ENT Thompson Peak Clinic is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to orient and train staff in front and back office processes. This role involves supervising the Medical Assistant schedule, identifying staffing needs, and reporting issues to management. The Lead Medical Assistant may also provide support for office software and computerized health records, and perform various support duties such as receptionist, telephone, scheduling, data input, and supply ordering. Under physician/clinician direction, they will perform duties related to patient examination and treatment, and serve as a backup for medical assistants. Key responsibilities include training new staff, monitoring office processes for standardization, managing MA work schedules, evaluating supply usage and costs, overseeing expired medication logs, and preparing treatment rooms. They will also escort patients, obtain histories, document vital signs, prep patients for exams, assist with exams and procedures, and perform front office duties like reception, telephone, data entry, chart maintenance, insurance forms, scheduling, and lab quality control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of a MA training program Required
  • 1 year related Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPC) - Certificate Required

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years Training or Leadership Experience Preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Certification Preferred
  • ENT or Procedure experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Orients and trains staff in front and back office processes and procedures.
  • Supervises the Medical Assistant (MA) monthly schedule.
  • Identifies MA staffing needs and makes necessary contacts to meet clinical needs.
  • Reports to management any MA needs or issues related to patient care, scheduling, or other site-related areas.
  • Offers support for office software system and computerized health record for staff as required.
  • Performs a variety of support duties including receptionist, telephone, scheduling, data input, supply ordering and supply inventory.
  • Under the direction of a physician/ clinician, performs a variety of duties in connection with examination and treatment of patients.
  • Serves as a backup for medical assistants as needed.
  • Serves as a teacher, trainer, and mentor for new staff.
  • Monitors front and back office to assure standardization and adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Manages MA work schedules.
  • Performs regular evaluation of supply usage and costs.
  • Notifies management when significant cost savings methods are identified.
  • Responsible for the oversight of expired medication logs and supply ordering.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Escorts the patient to the examining room, obtains a brief history, documents chief complaint, takes vital signs to include weight and temperature.
  • Preps the patient for exam, assists the physician/clinician on exams and any special procedures.
  • Performs a variety of front office duties as needed, including, but not limited to: reception, telephone, data entry, chart maintenance, insurance forms, scheduling and lab quality control.
