About The Position

HealthPoint is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to provide direct and indirect support to clinicians in patient care. This role involves preparing exam rooms, charts, and patients for appointments, performing diagnostic tests, and administering medications and immunizations (excluding IV). The Lead Medical Assistant will also arrange outside referral appointments and provide patient education under clinician direction. This position requires frequent consultation with the supervising practitioner and reporting of actions taken. Responsibilities include specimen collection, injections, phlebotomy, in-house lab tests, vaccines, screenings, and referrals.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (for CMA).
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program or 6 months commensurate work experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting (for MA).
  • 1-3 months of related experience (for CMA and MA if program completed).
  • 6 months of related experience if MA did not complete program.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Current Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (for CMA).
  • Proof of certificate of completion from the Medical Assistant Training Program or copy of High School Diploma or GED if commensurate work experience (for MA).
  • Must possess a valid state Driver's license and automobile insurance with reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • 3-6 months of related experience (for CMA and MA preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct and indirect support to the clinician in the delivery of patient care.
  • Prepares the exam room, chart, and patient to be seen by the practitioner.
  • Performs/implements orders for diagnostic tests.
  • Accurately administers medications, including immunizations by all routes except IV.
  • Routinely arranges outside referral appointments.
  • Provides patient education under the direction of the clinician when appropriate.
  • Functions under the direct supervision of a physician, RN, or midlevel practitioner.
  • Consults frequently with the supervising practitioner and informs the clinician of the information given or actions taken.
  • Performs care including, but not limited to, lab specimen collections, injections, phlebotomy, in-house lab tests, vaccines, screenings, and referrals.
