About The Position

UW Medicine Primary Care at Ravenna has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Medical Assistant - Certified. This role involves providing leadership to medical assistants, scheduling and assigning them to ensure appropriate staffing, and training them. The Lead Medical Assistant will also serve as a resource to other clinical providers, participate in the interview process for clinical hires, and train and orient new employees. Additionally, they will manage clinic flow to ensure timely patient care and that clinic needs are met, provide accurate and culturally sensitive patient education, and oversee the coordination of care by assisting providers with clinic processes for timely follow-up on test results. This is a full-time, 100% FTE position working Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to medical assistants
  • Schedule and assign medical assistants to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Train medical assistants and others and serve as a resource to other clinical providers
  • Participate in the interview process for medical assistants and other clinical hires
  • Train and orient new employees
  • Manage clinic flow using organizational ability to effectively prioritize work tasks to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and that clinic needs are met
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients
  • Oversee coordination of care by assisting providers in the maintenance of clinic processes to ensure timely follow-up on reported test results
  • Perform related duties as required
