About The Position

The Lead Engineer position will serve as the primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on engineering projects, electro-mechanical systems, and HVAC\/R systems supporting the successful development, implementation, and sustainment of ECU products. The position also supports modifications and revisions to current systems and products. Performs complex and routine engineering design and analysis tasks with standard techniques. Works with other engineers and designers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports, as well as model shop to produce prototypes and testing. The Lead Engineer position offers a variety of engineering opportunities including product development, technical leadership, testing, design, analysis, 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and prototyping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering minimum
  • 8-10 years experience
  • Custom equipment engineering design proficiency and experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work assignments, and multi-task to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated 3D CAD design experience
  • Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) software proficiency
  • Understand manufacturing processes including sheet metal forming, welding, mechanical fasteners
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees, and managers at all levels of the company
  • Ability to problem solve with little information
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Nice To Haves

  • MSME and passed FE\/PE preferred
  • SolidWorks experience preferred
  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience preferred
  • SolidWorks EPDM experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Understanding of air conditioner rating testing (ASHRAE Standard 37) a significant plus
  • Sheetmetal background is a plus
  • Interest in HVAC and Refrigeration equipment with understanding of HVAC\/R systems and design a significant plus
  • Basic knowledge of system controls is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and diagrams is a plus
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-464 is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance\/direction to a team of engineers including driving technology and project completion on time and budget
  • Develop system architecture including schematics, concept designs, and block diagrams
  • Directs technical activities of assigned CAD designers and technicians
  • Incorporates customer requirements into planning and work
  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents, and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • Proactively leads initiatives, and identifies and mitigates risk
  • Reports on project progress and status
  • Develops Basis Of Estimate (BOE) documents and participates in complex proposal preparation
  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and, under direction, develops designs to best support them
  • Follow standard project management practices including developing and maintaining Gantt charts and rolling action item lists
  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete products in 3D design software
  • Create\/edit models, schematics, and drawings using 3D and 2D design software
  • Use Product Data Management (PDM) software to comply with company revision control practices and ISO processes
  • Create\/edit BOMs using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • Must be willing and able to give and receive feedback to\/from shop floor personnel
