About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer, PE to join our team. This role involves conducting technical evaluations and in-field verification of existing MEP systems, performing heating/cooling load calculations, and executing full-cycle design for HVAC ductwork and piping. You will also evaluate current design criteria to provide solutions that improve building performance and produce stamped construction documents and technical specifications that meet current codes and exceed industry standards. You will lead engineering efforts across a wide spectrum of environments in the commercial retrofit market, including hospitals/labs, manufacturing facilities, and data centers. This role requires coordinating with building automation, structural, and electrical teams, supporting business development by acting as the 'voice of engineering', and exploring new technologies to ensure designs remain relevant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 6+ years in HVAC design with a focus on mechanical infrastructure and commercial retrofits
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP
  • Knowledge of building HVAC and energy codes

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical evaluations and in-field verification of existing MEP systems.
  • Perform heating/cooling load calculations to ensure new equipment is right-sized.
  • Execute full-cycle design for HVAC ductwork and piping, optimizing layouts for maintenance and serviceability.
  • Evaluate current design criteria to provide solutions that improve building performance through operational changes and controls optimization.
  • Produce stamped construction documents and technical specifications that meet current codes and exceed industry standards.
  • Lead engineering efforts across commercial retrofit projects, including hospitals/labs, manufacturing facilities, and data centers.
  • Serve as the technical lead when coordinating with building automation, structural, and electrical teams.
  • Assist the sales team with customer visits to act as the 'voice of engineering'.
  • Explore new technologies and stay abreast of current industry and market trends.
