  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 7 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis of aerospace components.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with turbomachinery components.
  • At least 7 years of experience with ANSYS APDL or ANSYS Mechanical FEA software.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with AI/ML, adjoint optimization, surrogate modeling, and multidisciplinary optimization in the gas turbine engine domain.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods and field support of gas turbine engines.
  • Problem-solving proficiency and root cause analysis (RCCA) experience.
  • CAD modeling experience, such as NX, UG, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
  • Advanced scripting experience with MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery test methodologies such as strain gages, light probes, and kulites.
  • Strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities for rotating and static turbomachinery components, including rotors, stators, blisks, disks, and impellers.
  • Lead design and analysis tasks, including modal, vibration, deflection, crack growth, burst, fatigue, thermal, and stack analysis, with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as a core responsibility.
  • Lead testing of components and engine modules at different lifecycle stages, including rig, development, and production, and reduce and analyze test data.
  • Document engineering results and findings from design, simulation, analysis, and test activities.
  • Oversee the generation and presentation of engineering artifacts during structured design reviews.
  • Lead technical mentoring, process and tool improvement, and knowledge-capture efforts.
  • Lead teams of junior engineers in day-to-day technical work.
