About The Position

We are looking for a highly skilled data center test technician to ensure that our data center customers have reliable critical systems. In this role, a strong mechanical commissioning background is preferred. Strong computer/technology skills are a plus. Qualified candidates would have hands-on knowledge of redundant systems and how they work together. Will require strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills to help datacenter customers/ clients and training/ mentoring others in best practices to TRC and NETA electrical standards. To ensure success as a data center test technician, you should exhibit extensive experience in ensuring optimal efficiency of data center infrastructure. Top-notch data center technicians take proactive measures to prevent loss of data and damage to networks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar, and/or similar years of experience performing data center testing services.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments.
  • Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment.
  • Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide support, and resolve errors.
  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies.
  • Proficiency in documenting network processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Willingness to respond to network and power equipment errors after hours.
  • Desire to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Data Center Sustainability Professional (CDCSP), LEED AP, or CCP certification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to staff and customers, as well as responding to redundant back up power equipment outages and network issues.
  • Writing pre-functional checklists and functional test scripts.
  • Performing technical design & submittal reviews.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Verifying and report on contractor progress.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as: Building Automation/Monitoring Systems, Humidifiers, Variable Refrigerant Flow, Computer Room Air Conditioners/Handlers, Evaporators etc.
  • Leading & coordinating functional testing and reporting findings.
  • Documenting processes and keeping event logs.
  • Advising on the procurement of new data center equipment.
  • Keeping track of developing trends in data center technologies.
