About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Mechanic at a Biopharmaceutical company is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal operation and safety of all building systems and equipment. This role requires technical expertise, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key responsibilities include coordinating maintenance staff, managing service requests, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, providing hands-on support for complex mechanical issues, and developing preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. The position also involves implementing safety protocols, training team members, maintaining inventory of tools and supplies, and collaborating with management on budgets and improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in a lead or supervisory maintenance role
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Capacity to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity for maintenance tasks
  • Skill with electric hand tools and maintenance equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

  • Supervising maintenance team and assigning tasks
  • Responding to maintenance requests and emergencies
  • Diagnosing and repairing building systems issues

  • Managing inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
  • Conducting regular team meetings to ensure effective workflow
  • Performing installation, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment
  • Working in varying conditions (indoor/outdoor)
