About The Position

Responsible for all aspects of maintenance and the repairing of heavy and light equipment and provides day-to-day supervision and technical direction to work crews. This is a remote/ rotational position, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a mechanic in a heavy equipment dealership or industrial equipment maintenance shop or associate degree or certification from an accredited diesel/heavy equipment technology program with one (1) year of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience, directing an average crew size of five or more.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to be insured by Worley auto insurer.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an efficient and effective alternate relationship.
  • Ability to train, direct and assess employees’ knowledge in heavy and light duty mechanics and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate to others information relating to safety/technical manuals, procedures, permits, JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), SETA cards (Safety-Environmental Task Assessment), safety/warnings signs.
  • Sufficient oral communication skills to give and receive emergency instructions, safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
  • Ability to follow all company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as they related to this position and the work duties being performed.
  • Knowledge of diesel theory, hydraulics, electrical and pneumatic system.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and/or light duty equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and experience in lubrication procedures for all types of heavy equipment common to heavy construction and oilfield service industries. Ability to maintain equipment maintenance records.
  • Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic, blueprint/drawings, job descriptions, maintenance/safety/technical manuals, and safety/warning signs.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day supervision and technical direction to work crews.
  • Schedules daily workload and assigns appropriate resources.
  • Examines work and materials for compliance with specifications.
  • Performs craft job duties as required.
  • Acts as mentor and provides feedback to team members and new employees.
  • Visits all areas of responsibility and job sites daily.
  • Manages daily schedules and attends related meetings.
  • Accountable for safe work practices, toolbox meetings, and safety training compliance.
  • Routinely performs safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections and is required to attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.
  • Demonstrates support for the company's environmental management system.
  • Adheres to all North slope and Worley health, safety and environment policies and procedures.
  • Assist with analyzing, diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and providing maintenance of heavy and light duty equipment such as hydraulic and lattice boom cranes, backhoes, motor-graders, bulldozers, front end loaders, tractor-trailers, water, and vac trucks.
  • Assist with dismantling, repairing, and reassembling equipment using hoists, hand tools and pneumatic and electric tools.
  • Work on engines, structural systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, and subassemblies such as transmissions and differentials.
  • Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Perform duties in shop or in field as necessary.
  • Routinely operate Worley/client light and/or medium duty vehicles.
  • Safely climb ladders of various heights.
