About The Position

The Lead Materials Technician will be responsible for overseeing and performing materials handling, inventory control, and logistics support for Primoris Energy Services projects in Sherman, Texas, ensuring efficient and accurate material flow to support construction activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, warehousing, or inventory control, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience operating forklifts and other heavy material handling equipment, with valid certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles and material management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and material specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with material handling.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of materials technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Manage all aspects of material receiving, inspection, storage, and issuance according to company procedures and project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using material management systems and conduct regular physical inventories to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of required materials.
  • Operate and maintain various material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures related to materials handling and warehouse operations.
  • Prepare and process shipping and receiving documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and material transfer forms.
  • Identify and report damaged or defective materials and assist in the resolution of material-related issues.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and storage solutions to maximize efficiency and accessibility.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of material control strategies and best practices.
