The Role As a Lead Materials Designer, you will focus on elevating the consumer’s experience by creating materials that perform, are trend-relevant, and consumer-right. You will lead the creation of seasonal material designs and category direction, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of innovation and quality. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior teammates and collaborating with cross-functional partners to bring fresh, innovative materials to our footwear designs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Material or Textile Design, Industrial Design, Fashion, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years’ relevant design experience.
  • 1-2+ years’ experience of training new team members.
  • Creative problem solver with a tuned eye for aesthetics.
  • Highly motivated team player and self-starter.
  • Advanced understanding of footwear construction and material application.
  • Experience in preparing and building inspiration moodboards, concept presentations, and material stories.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote, Microsoft applications, and openness to learning 3D software.
  • Ability to create concepts and explore new material innovations and ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Elevate and influence seasonal material designs and category direction through executional design.
  • Concept, ideate, and create design tech packs to partner with manufacturing partners.
  • Research key market material trends and present this trend research to extended teams.
  • Deliver compelling presentations of design concepts to internal and external candidates.
  • Oversee the creation of seasonal and foundational material palettes.
  • Complete material maps with a high level of accuracy.
  • Pioneer new 3D tools and support the CAD creation process.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with key cross-functional partners within Hoka Footwear.
