About The Position

Staples Supply Chain is seeking a Lead Material Handler to support warehouse operations and help deliver products, services, and expertise to customers. In this role, you will mentor and train new material handlers and fill in for supervisors as needed. You will operate material handling equipment to move products through the warehouse, while following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, safe work area. The work involves lifting, lowering, carrying, and stacking products and empty pallets in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Requirements

• At least 12 months of related warehouse experience, or an equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
• Ability to become certified to operate material handling equipment and safely operate required equipment.
• Ability and willingness to keep the work area clean.
• Ability to adopt safety procedures and follow safe work practices.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variations.
• Basic English verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent permissible by law.
• Ability to work additional hours beyond the scheduled shift; overtime is required based on business needs.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull equipment or merchandise weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time.
• Must wear safety composite work shoes.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train new material handlers.
• Fill in for supervisors as needed.
• Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move products within the warehouse.
• Lift, lower, and carry products, and stack empty pallets.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
• Follow safety procedures and promote safe work practices.
