About The Position

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment. Roles and Responsibilities Manufacturing engineering tasks focused on CNC machining (milling and turning) in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Primarily tactical responsibilities on the shop floor supporting CNC operations. Serves as a best practice/quality resource for CNC processes, tooling, fixturing, and setups. Has awareness of latest technical developments in CNC machines, cutting tools, CAM software, and machining strategies in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development for operations, and ensures delivery within area of responsibility (safety, quality, delivery, cost). Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in CNC operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing setups, programs, and tooling solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise in CNC machining and programming for data analysis (cycle time, scrap, tool life, capability) to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources (shop floor feedback, quality data, tooling vendors, CAM/tooling best practices) outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience or relatable manufacturing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly document setups, work instructions, and program changes.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills working with machinists, programmers, and engineers on the shop floor.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve machining problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead CNC-related programs / projects (new part introductions, process improvements, tooling standardization).
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute process improvement programs.
  • Established project management skills, with a focus on high-mix, low-volume CNC production environments.
