Roles and Responsibilities Manufacturing engineering tasks focused on CNC machining (milling and turning) in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Primarily tactical responsibilities on the shop floor supporting CNC operations. Serves as a best practice/quality resource for CNC processes, tooling, fixturing, and setups. Has awareness of latest technical developments in CNC machines, cutting tools, CAM software, and machining strategies in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development for operations, and ensures delivery within area of responsibility (safety, quality, delivery, cost). Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in CNC operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing setups, programs, and tooling solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise in CNC machining and programming for data analysis (cycle time, scrap, tool life, capability) to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources (shop floor feedback, quality data, tooling vendors, CAM/tooling best practices) outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
