Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Robotics

Tutor Intelligence•Watertown, MA
•$160,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

Tutor Intelligence develops and deploys AI-powered robotic systems and is scaling manufacturing across multiple robotic platforms. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, Quality Engineering, and New Product Introduction across those platforms. This is a technical leadership role rather than a traditional people-management position. The role sets technical direction, solves complex engineering problems, establishes manufacturing and test standards, and guides engineers across disciplines. Success is measured by the reliability, quality, efficiency, and scalability of manufacturing operations. The position leads manufacturing process development and validation, production tooling and fixtures, work instructions, production readiness, and resolution of production blockers. It drives manufacturing test strategy, architecture, automation, infrastructure, coverage, and traceability, from component testing and robot bring-up through end-of-line testing and Factory Acceptance Testing. It also establishes process controls and error-proofing, leads root-cause investigations and corrective actions, and works with Production, R&D, and Fleet Reliability to improve product reliability. The role partners with R&D on design for manufacturability, assembly, test, and serviceability; leads manufacturing release readiness and engineering change implementation; and transfers new products into stable, repeatable production. It also drives manufacturing configuration, process control, and product genealogy through MES/PLM systems, including ION and Atlas, and develops processes, test capabilities, equipment, and infrastructure to support increasing production volumes. The position is based on-site in Watertown, Massachusetts, reports to the Head of Manufacturing & Supply Chain, and offers a $160,000–$200,000 annual base salary plus equity and benefits.
