About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Technician provides general construction and maintenance services for Franciscan Health hospital facilities at the team leader level, under the direction of engineering senior management. This position assesses, troubleshoots, and repairs facility components requiring design, life-cycle planning, repair, replacement, or new installation. They perform duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and policies. This position is responsible for leading the facility general maintenance team in the installation and operation of general building systems, to provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 5 years of construction or maintenance field experience OR 3 years of hospital maintenance or construction experience OR 3 years of maintenance or mechanical system experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in construction, engineering, or facility maintenance preferred
  • Journeyman license or trade specific certification preferred
  • Engineering Certification, Master Construction License, System certification , Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the temporary shutdown of facility equipment, systems, and electrical components necessary for renovation, repair, and new construction projects.
  • Contribute to the management of facility systems, including PM development, budgeting, system assessments, and life-cycle planning.
  • Contribute to maintaining emergency response procedures to respond to failures of plumbing and other equipment assigned to the general maintenance team, and to support other facilities teams for utility outages.
  • Coordinate contract services providing supplemental general maintenance, repairs and installations.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in the facility's general equipment, systems, or components and take appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain the hospital computerized maintenance management system through the appropriate assignment of preventative maintenance orders, completion of work orders, and the recording equipment history.
  • Monitor the operations of a unit and provides input to the performance of individuals through feedback and recommendations.
  • Participate in people management activities for unit team members such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all general facility equipment, systems, and components in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  • Provide quality control for new installations or replacements of general facility equipment, systems, and components performed by others.
  • Provide training on general facilities equipment and safety to both general maintenance and other facilities maintenance and operations team members.
