About The Position

The Plant Operations Support Technician provides a variety of services in support of Plant Engineering and Environmental Services. Responsibilities include landscaping and grounds maintenance, floor care and maintenance, painting and wall repair, and support activities that help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient healthcare environment. This position utilizes both hand and power tools and requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to push, pull, carry, and move equipment and materials.
• Physical stamina to perform demanding work for extended periods.
• Ability to repeatedly bend, stretch, kneel, reach, climb, and twist.
• Strong trunk and core strength to safely perform physical labor.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to interpret basic drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Ability to write simple reports and work order documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to work independently in a self-managed environment.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions.
• Working knowledge of computerized work order systems or willingness to learn.
• Ability to electronically enter work hours and descriptions of completed work.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Montana Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

• One to three months of related experience in groundskeeping, floor maintenance, painting, facility maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of maintenance equipment and tools preferred; willingness to learn required.
• Pesticide and Weed Control Chemical License may be required.
• Previous experience in healthcare, commercial, or institutional maintenance.
• Experience operating groundskeeping, floor care, or maintenance equipment.
• Basic knowledge of facility maintenance systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds through scheduled mowing, mulching, weeding, trimming, edging, and general landscape care.
• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides using approved methods and equipment.
• Maintain irrigation systems, including seasonal startup and winterization.
• Establish and maintain a systematic floor care program that supports a clean and professional healthcare environment.
• Operate, maintain, clean, and properly store floor care equipment.
• Maintain sidewalks, parking areas, driveways, planters, fountains, and other exterior features.
• Remove snow and apply salt or de-icing materials as needed.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to conserve water and prevent waste.
• Assist with painting and general facility maintenance projects.
• Support Environmental Services with trash management and biohazard disposal.
• Complete work orders and accurately document labor hours and completed tasks.
