About The Position

The City of Redmond is seeking a Lead Maintenance Worker for its Public Works Department, Stormwater Maintenance Division. This division is responsible for maintaining City infrastructure and protecting waterways and the natural environment from pollution. The successful candidate will be passionate about environmental protection, comfortable leading a team of maintenance workers and contractors, and knowledgeable about stormwater system operations regulations. They will also possess strong organizational skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to collaborate with other leads and supervisors to form a cohesive leadership team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Five (5) years progressive responsibilities within public utilities or general construction.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, assign and oversee the inspection, cleaning, maintenance, repair and installation activities related to the public stormwater infrastructure to ensure the proper operation of the system.
  • Oversee the operation of the decant facility and the mineral bin/temporary storage area; assign duties as needed.
  • Schedule, assign, oversee and coordinate the repair/refurbishment of the existing public stormwater system related to new construction projects.
  • Coordinate and assign the inspection and construction requests, related to stormwater, of other City departments or public works divisions.
  • Support the Construction Inspection Division by performing the cleaning and TV inspection of new and existing storm lines and structures, assist with final inspections of development projects and assist with warranty inspections to verify all new improvements are ready for the Stormwater Maintenance Division to take ownership.
  • Coordinate and assign the response to emergency spills or illicit discharges in order to quickly protect water quality and the environment.
