About The Position

The Lead Mechanic will provide technical assistance and training to our maintenance department, will lead and oversee mechanical repairs during unit outages, all day-to-day activities, including scheduling and assisting Maintenance Planner. Overseeing plant needs, service requests, and work order preparation. Provide daily direction to department personnel regarding daily work plan priority, changes or challenges and their resolution. Report on maintenance work productivity and performance as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required (technical degree preferred)
  • Must have a minimum of at least 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a highly industrial continuous process environment
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Hold a valid and current Driver’s License.
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and treating others with respect.
  • Have the knowledge and ability to prioritize job tasks.
  • Have good organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to delegate in a professional and thoughtful way.
  • Must be able to work independently and with others.
  • Computer skills, reporting, and the desire to learn as needed.
  • Understand the FPP plan its implementation.
  • Work with Venders for planning, parts, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with established company safety and operating policies, procedures, and guidelines to demonstrate leadership and safety.
  • Know and understand our Life Critical Safety Rules and ensure during daily safe work permits are covering any know issues that may violate them.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner and Operations Supervision to prioritize and delegate workload for the multi week schedule.
  • Understand the importance of the Preventive Maintenance program, including creating PMs, scheduling PMs and ensure they are on the appropriate schedule rotation.
  • Provide input and feedback to maintenance planner of adjustments needed to the current PM schedule and assist in developing new PMs for future equipment needs.
  • Create and modify PM’s, including frequency, manpower requirements, tasks, etc.
  • Report on PM and Weekly schedule compliance.
  • Assist planner in developing maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Oversee the inspection and repair of all plant equipment – pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, hydraulic systems, gear boxes and piping systems.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on all types of equipment – Including vehicles, trailers, power operated equipment as well as hand tools.
  • Maintain accurate computer records of time and parts used on specific work orders.
  • Update any deficiencies in personnel training needs to Safety Coordinator or Maintenance Manager.
  • Work with Storeroom to establish proper min/max, identify obsolete parts and critical spares.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • On call duties required – weekly rotation with the other Mechanics for emergency coverage needs.
  • Assist in development and implementation of a six-week Long-Term Maintenance Plan for routine work.
  • Assist Maintenance Planner with parts, labor and lead time in upcoming Long-Term Maintenance Plan.
  • Understand the Long-Term Maintenance Plan and budgeting.
