Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, this role involves overseeing and assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of machines, parts, and facilities for the Kirker Paterson buildings. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will prepare maintenance schedules, allocate work based on forecasted work orders, and maintain all inventory of parts and equipment, ensuring proper storage. This position also involves recording and maintaining production, repair, and machine maintenance information, and assisting with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects. The role requires setting up and operating machines, adjusting controls, lubricating machinery, and performing routine maintenance on various equipment. Responsibilities include dismantling and reassembling machines, removing hardened material, and transporting machine parts and equipment. Welding and repairing tanks, vessels, and frames is also part of the duties. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will communicate with other workers to facilitate repairs and move equipment, read work orders to determine maintenance needs, and perform repairs on various materials. Inspecting and testing damaged machine parts to determine appropriate repair actions and performing facility-related repairs are also key functions. Additionally, this role includes training the maintenance crew and performing other related duties as assigned.
