This is an administrative, technical, and manual labor position operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all types of utility equipment and appurtenances pertaining to wastewater treatment facilities and their related systems. It assists with the leadership and oversight of operations related to the Wastewater Treatment facilities’ Preventative Maintenance (PM) division, facilitating the development of public trust and confidence in the City’s Utility. This position requires scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and/or immediate response to emergency conditions. It is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management, with emergency duties assigned as needed and 24/7 availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies. The position is DOT and Safety Sensitive, subject to random drug testing. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic-Wastewater Facilities/PM performs leadership functions related to maintenance activities for the uninterrupted flow of day-to-day operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plants PM division. This position is distinguished from supervisory classifications in that the Lead Maintenance Mechanic-Wastewater Facilities/PM does not exercise formal authority but does assist in areas such as discipline, grievance resolution, employee interviewing, employee performance evaluation, hiring, and other personnel-related decisions.
