About The Position

Superior Aerospace Precision Machining is seeking an experienced Lead Machinist to support daily machining operations and guide shop-floor employees. This role involves setting up and operating various machines to produce precision parts that meet stringent customer, engineering, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will possess extensive machining experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the capability to train others while effectively managing multiple production priorities in a dynamic and supportive workplace that values personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of related manufacturing or machining experience.
  • Experience setting up and operating machining equipment.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use a micrometer to measure to ten-thousandths of an inch.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to train and evaluate employees.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing quality processes, including document control, process control, inspection, calibration, and product identification.
  • General knowledge of ISO requirements, records control, statistical tools, and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines for new and repeat production jobs.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Load, run, measure, and inspect precision parts.
  • Adjust machine controls and edit computerized machine commands as needed.
  • Assemble the tooling required for production jobs.
  • Use micrometers and other measuring equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Identify defects, inefficiencies, and opportunities to reduce wasted time and motion.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and supervisory personnel to resolve technical or production issues.
  • Train and evaluate shop-floor operators.
  • Accurately complete all required production and quality documentation.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow company quality, safety, and process-control procedures.
