Lead Tape Operator - Full Time Location: West Valley City, UT Schedule: 3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday 11:00 PM-7:15 AM Must be available to work the full training schedule for a duration of one week. Training Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-3:15PM As a Lead Machine Operator, you'll be an integral part of our Tape Department, contributing to the production of high-quality yarn on looming machines. Your role involves maintaining a continuous, safe, and efficient weaving process, ensuring a top-notch product from start to reel completion.

Requirements

  • At least 2 + years of heavy equipment/machine operation experience.
  • At least 1 year of management/lead experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Data Entry, SAP is preferred.
  • Conduct best practice quality checks on line and equipment, with a keen eye for product defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Mechanical aptitude, ability to read measuring instruments, and pass competency tests in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance, bend and stay in a bent-over position occasionally, work extended shifts, weekends, and nights, and stand on a concrete floor for prolonged periods.
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment with a non-controlled atmosphere that has varying degrees of temperature.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Tape Associates, train new team members, and step into the Supervisor role when needed.
  • Set up, operate looms and printers, perform minor equipment maintenance, and document shifts and downtime.
  • Oversee inner-plant truck pulling & packaging, and record loom production numbers.
  • Load and maintain the required amount of raw materials on reels, demonstrating expertise in commonly used yarn types.
  • Check and verify proper weaving of weft and lockstitch into the product, maintaining fluid levels.
  • Build reels to ensure availability for the next shift, adhering to safety requirements, policies, and procedures outlined in the employee handbook, and maintaining a tidy work area.
