About The Position

The Lead LPN coordinates the day-to-day patient flow as part of a healthcare team by assisting in planning and implementing care interventions while promoting high quality patient care in a professional, efficient and safe manner. Assists in the planning and implementation of interventions to ensure evidence-based practices are being adhered to. Directs the team member as needed in order to support and maintain high-quality patient care. Lead LPN works closely with providers, supervisors, support staff and other members of the organization to ensure a seamless workflow. Effectively communicates with all team members to support a cohesive work environment. The Lead LPN in the Urgent Care department will: Work collaboratively with the department managers to ensure compliance with the Urgent Care Association of America (UCA) standards and guidelines. Assist with the training and orientation of new staff. They will assist with problem solving daily issues and bring to the management team, if needed. Is expected to keep relevant knowledge up to date and apply it to everyday practice. Site Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm, Saturday - Sunday 9:00am - 5:00pm Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: Urgent Care (UC) is a multi-faceted department with staff working in various locations to achieve similar departmental goals. The Lead LPN works collaboratively with all team members to: Facilitate a 5-star patient experience by displaying we are Summit Health Serve as a department liaison and resource point person Assist with the oversight of the COVID-19 testing workflow Assist with the training and orientation of new staff, including but not limited to annual competencies and lab training Troubleshoot lab errors and missing specimen issues. Assist in monitoring/coordinating courier pickup schedules Participate in monitoring site inventory and supply needs, placing orders if needed and troubleshooting purchasing issues Assist in reviewing lab logbooks and emergency cart books Perform clinical duties when needed to cover staffing shortages Assist with reviewing department reports such as pending status, missing charges, UC to ED transfers, etc. Assist with chart reviews as needed to monitor documentation and department goals Assist with completing TelmedIQ provider schedules Assist with completing clinical competencies Maintain department forms/handouts at each site Assist with other duties as assigned within their scope of practice

Requirements

  • Graduate of a LPN school program
  • Current NYS Licensure as an LPN
  • Required to obtain CT Licensure within 3 months of hire.
  • Required to provide evidence that you have applied for LPN CT Licensure within a month of hire.
  • Must maintain CT and NY LPN license.
  • BLS Certified; required upon hire.
  • Competency skill checklist expected to be completed within first 3 months.
  • Ability to work in all 6 UCC locations if needed.
  • Strong communication skills; both verbally and written
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize while multi-tasking
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Proficient in EMR
  • Ability to think critically and exercise good judgement in stressful situations

Nice To Haves

  • IV and or Phlebotomy skills preferred.
