About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting in the training of department staff, ensuring daily procedures, paperwork, and product labels are understood and followed. The Lead Logistics Operator will confirm that team members perform daily pre-checks on forklifts, company vehicles, and trailers, and communicate any necessary repairs or maintenance to Fleet Maintenance. This position enforces company safety guidelines, ensures all team members adhere to PPE protocols, and maintains an organized, clean, and safe working environment. The operator verifies that loads and racks are safely secured and that team members follow protocol, including conducting 360 walk-arounds. They also verify the load & route one sheet, compiling and returning documentation for each completed truck/trailer. The role involves supporting team members, assisting with new hire training and scheduling, and working overtime and weekends as needed to support the Distribution department. Additionally, the position supports training and policies related to maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or prior knowledge of general construction and/or window and door applications or components is desirable but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills are required.
  • Good public relations, public speaking and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand and explain documents such as product specifications or warranty manuals and customer orders.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others, gather information from others, and respond appropriately to questions from customers, coworkers, and managers.
  • Must display excellent phone and email etiquette.
  • Must be able to present an appropriate attitude for the situation when interacting with customers or coworkers.
  • Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the training of department staff to understand department procedures, paperwork, and product labels to complete daily department tasks.
  • Confirm that team members perform forklift, company vehicle, and trailer pre-checks on a daily basis.
  • Communicate and follow-up issues with company vehicles and trailers to Fleet Maintenance for repairs or standard care.
  • Enforce company safety guidelines and ensure that all team members follow all PPE protocols.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environment.
  • Verify that team members are safely and properly securing loads/racks, and that team members are following protocol (360 walk around).
  • Verify the load & route one sheet – compile and return documentation to the routing coordinator for each completed truck / trailer.
  • Support team members when help is needed or requested.
  • Assist training new hires and assist with team member’s schedule.
  • Work overtime hours and weekends as needed, adjust schedule, and/or responsibilities to support the Distribution department.
  • Support training and policies related to maintaining a safe working environment.
