About The Position

Reporting to and assisting the Warehouse Supervisor, the Lead Person will be responsible for oversight of the day-to-day activities of several employees at the Distribution Center. This role involves ensuring safe operations, training new employees, managing workloads, and performing various warehouse tasks as needed. The Lead Person must be able to lead by example with servant leadership and communicate effectively with team members and leads.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees within the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to create and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet software sufficient to maintain and generate records and reports
  • Good working knowledge of the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) including use of the RF computer sessions
  • Must pass OSHA forklift certification within 90 days of job award
  • Possess ability to learn and perform all jobs at the Distribution Center to act as fill-in when needed
  • Ability to read tape measures, scales, and gauges
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to sit on a forklift; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the warehouse for housekeeping
  • Monitor employees’ times on break periods and lunch periods
  • Lead by example with servant leadership
  • Monitor employees’ workloads throughout the day
  • Perform any job on the floor for absent employees
  • Give clear and decisive instructions to other employees
  • Communicate effectively with other employees and leads
  • Perform all other duties as instructed by the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Handle emergencies and issues when they come up if the Warehouse Supervisor is not able to be reached
  • File in for the Warehouse Supervisor as needed
